LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Fifth-year senior Peyton Hall (165) of the West Virginia University wrestling team closed out his championship run inside the Las Vegas Convention Center with a pair of victories over nationally-ranked foes on the final day of the 43rd Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Top-seeded Hall, an Oak Glen graduate and four-time West Virginia Class A/AA state champion, led off the day by recording a 12-7 decision over No. 4-seed Hunter Garvin in the semifinals, before meeting No. 6-seed Cameron Amine of Oklahoma State in the finals at 165 pounds.

With 27 seconds left in the first overtime period, Hall caught Amine off balance and secured the match-winning takedown to seal the championship.

The Chester native became the first Mountaineer to win their bracket at the CKLV since three-time national champion Greg Jones took home the title at 174 pounds in 2002, as well as the first to reach the finals since fifth-year senior Dustin Rogers finished runner-up at heavyweight in 2007.

As a team, the Mountaineers landed in 11th place with 40.5 team points, which marked the highest finish for the program since the 2007 squad wrapped up its performance in 12th.

No. 18 West Virginia returns home for its first Big 12 matchup of the season, where WVU will battle Cal Baptist in a special off-campus dual at Oak Glen High School on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m.
